UX + UI Design

UX + UI Design

UX Design is User Experience Design while UI Design is User Interface Design. Often, both terms are casually used to express the concept in general, but they are definitely not interchangeable since they address separate issues, parts of the process and the design discipline. UX brings in the human touch in the process, which aims to enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty by focusing on improving ease of use, usability and interaction happening between the application and human! UI Design takes in account the look and feel, the presentation and interactivity of a product. UI design is a complex process which includes information from user research, content and development elements to form an attractive and enjoyable experience for the users.

Interaction Design

Interaction Design is often referred as IxD which primarily works towards ensuring practical implementation of UI/UX and discovering elements beyond digital world like aesthetics, motion, sound, space and so on. IxD by its nature is often considered as wide topic in itself. Unlike many other processes, IxD deals in providing experience based solutions which are often very personal and unique to the user. A great deal of research is demanded here since we are dealing with many intangible values here which are both conscious and subconscious. Putting yourself in the shoe of a user and creating a product that not only solves the problem at hand but also making it an enjoyable experience throughout the use under constantly varying situations.

Prototyping

From a roughly drawn screen flow on a paper to the process of making a working mock-ups that allows you to visualize your idea and scrutinize your initial intention of making the product. This is a key process which often leads to important changes made to the app flow before investing your time into development. Prototyping is possible through hand draw (low – fidelity) sketches which is easy to create but lacks the information on user interaction, while computerized mock-ups (high – fidelity) provides a more realistic and true representation of the product. Idea is to create a rudimentary working model of the product to demonstrate different stages, screens and user interaction along with a tour of the product from start to end.
